Major Stars – “Blackout”

This past few weeks have been packed with great news and welcome returns of RSTB faves, but there’s always room for one more! Northeast sonic juggernaut Major Stars returns today with news of a new album. The Boston band has already had a legendary run, but it’s been since 2019 that new music has hit the speakers. They follow up on Roots of Confusion Seeds of Joy, kicking in the windows with the scorch of “Blackout.” The band’s mix of Noell Dorsey’s velveteen vocals and a three-pronged guitar gauntlet sets a sear on the listener. The song barrels out of the gate with enough riff n’ rumble to sate fans waiting for the past six years. The new album finds the band in a collaborative spirt as well, sharing songwriting for the first time between Wayne Rogers, Tom Leonard, and Dorsey. The new record, More Colors of Sound, is out October 24th from Drag City.
