Louse – “Sugar in the Wound”

For the most part this year, the indie offerings that have hit hardest have been split between the bright, bouncy jangles and the cacophonous cocoon of shoegaze. Aside from The Laughing Chimes and a killer cut from The Native Cats, there’s been a little lull in the pool of passionate lament. Cincinnati’s Louse have come to cure the need to drench the days in drama. New single “Sugar in the Wound,” streaks the speakers with a measure of ‘80s melodrama, crumpling to the floor with the kind of pop collapse that should sate fans of The Cure, The Bunnymen, RVG or the aforementioned Chimes.
