Lorelle Meets The Obsolete – “Regresar / Recordar”

RSTB faves Lorelle Meets The Obsolete return with a new single that starts shrouded in darkness and fog. They open up “Regresar / Recordar” with nods to their shoegaze past. With a pulsating beat, the cut scratches at the speakers, soaked in noise and neon synths, a beacon in the fog that’s dangerously near a precipice. The band leaps off the ledge in the song’s second half, pushing much further into electronics than ever before. They let go of the obfuscation and spin the listener dizzy, reflecting light off of every surface. There’s still a sinister undercurrent, like the decadence of dance might overtake and consume the listener at any moment. It’s a huge step forward for the band, a balance that’ll be great to see them pull off on the upcoming new album, Corporal, out October 10th from Sonic Cathedral.
