Kyle Hamlett Uno – “Empty Senses”

Busy schedules have kept the first couple of singles from Kyle Hamlett on the site, but it’s high time to put some focus on his upcoming new album, The Way Out Inn. Third single, “Empty Senses” specializes in the kind of heat-sick Americana that’s just what mid-July ordered. Slow and syrupy, built on a bed of burbling drums and honeyed n’ hazy background vocals; the song stews country and lounged folk into the kind of cooler that drips down the side of the speakers. I’ve mostly been familiar with Hamlett from his excellent duo with Luke Shcneider, but on his own, he’s got plenty of power to keep the listener locked. The new record, The Way Out Inn, is out August 1st from Arrowhawk Records.
