Kurt Weisman’s Orange Reissued on LP

A lovely reminder of the past this morning as Autumn Records announces a reissue of Kurt Weisman’s 2010 gem Orange. The songwriter might be more well known as part of the early aughts collective Feathers, a band that also included Kyle Thomas (King Tuff), Ruth Garbus (Happy Birthday) and Asa Irons (Witch). Weisman’s solo albums, like those of Feathers, are few and far between, but utterly essential. He surfaced a couple of years after Feathers’ debut with his first solo record, Spiritual Sci-Fi, a pop exploration that’s as eclectic as it’s title might imply. Orange signaled a shift back towards pastoral folk and an intimate air. The record has long been out of print, originally put out by Vermont’s Autumn Records on limited CD-r. Now it’s been remastered by Greg Weeks (Espers) and it’s being given a deluxe vinyl issue along with his 2009 single “Over The Shadow’s Door.” If you missed out on the gentle breeze of Orange in its original run, catch up with “Let My Spirit Rise,” and nab the new edition from Autumn and Poole Music, out November 7th.
