Karl Frog – “Emotional Technology”
by Andy
The third album from Aussie songwriter Karl Frog gets its hooks into the listener. Following the Byrne-pop pirouettes of the first single, “Colonial Hearts,” the second single takes a more measured track, though it’s still hooked into the kind of caffeinated ‘80s impulses that made the first a favorite around here. With a serrated riff, the cut carves into the speakers before it douses the drama in a quiet cool that’s becoming a signature stature for Frog. The cut balances itchy hooks and LED keys with the loose tie n’ rumpled wit that’s made the outfit an outsider favorite among the new Aussie class. The new album, Yes, Music, is out July 11th from Spoilsport Records.
