Gregory Uhlmann – “Burnt Toast”

SML guitarist Gregory Uhlmann keeps the pace up this year, following a release with the band and his trio with Josh Johnson and Sam Wilkes last year. In the solo sphere, Gregory continues to push the boundaries of the guitar in a jazz setting. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m about through with the cold, but the icy rivulets that drip from Uhlmann’s strings are bound to cool off any room. “Burnt Toast’s” beat slips from the speakers with a cavernous clatter, and all the while Uhlmann weaves icicle webs of guitar over the top. This live video gives a little behind the scenes while proving that Uhlmann is an orchestra unto himself. The new record, Extra Stars, is out March 65th from International Anthem.
