Frank Hurricane – “Cinnamon of the Mountains”
Not a lot that can brighten up the cold and crush of February in 2026, but I’ll be damned if this isn’t as close as we’ll come. News of a new Frank Hurricane album arrives today on the heels of a new single, “Cinnamon of the Mountains.” The record bills Frank without the Hurricanes of Love, but it’s still just as stepped in mountain breeze and beautiful production as his last few records. The album features production and contributions from Hunter Davidsohn (Old Lady), and pedal steel from Jon “Catfish” Delorme. The new single sways into view on solo strums and Frank’s indelible croon. Echoing off of the cliffs and caverns, Hurricane’s comforting harmonies are swaddled in his mix of Appalachian folk and Cosmic Americana. There’s a return to his crossover roots in the end of the song slipping some of the early hip-hop leanings in amongst the flanneled folk. The new record sees Frank moving to Nudie records and the album, Southern Shrymp (in the Big City) is out March 27th from the label.
