Forever★ – “Heat Seeking Missle”

Second single from Midwest shoegaze flayers Forever★ takes the template and adds a heavier rhythm plate to the process. The Kansas City duo still serves up a heady dose of amp-fed fury, emanating from the speakers in thick plumes of fog and haze, but underneath, they slip much further towards the rising electro tide of the nineties. Below the MBV-level amp din, the band puts a drum n’ bass blister onto their sound, driving the cathartic chaos harder than most of their peers. The cut would draw blood as either a D n’ B throwback or a shoegaze glazer, but with a “worlds collide” grab bag on history, the band makes it twice as turbulent when they re-envision the genres as bigger in combination. The new single sits pretty on their upcoming debut, Second Gen Dream, which is out August 29th from à La Carte Records.
