Dancer – “Happy Halloween”

A second single slips out from Glasgow’s Dancer, hung on their penchant for the slipping from the nineties into the early aughts. “Happy Halloween” brings the bitter crunch of guitars, the squeak and squelch of punk fed on grunge, and an acerbic tone that lets the world’s woes slip off its Teflon exterior. The guitars chew on the first few moments before the cut lets Gemma Fleet’s perfectly pitched vocals punch angled shapes into the song’s hooks. It’s buoyant, yet brittle, soaring while threatening to shake loose at any moment. The cut carves up the front half of the band’s new album, More of Less, out September 12th from Meritorio Records.
