Plankton Wat – “Tentacles”

A new single from RSTB faves Plankton Wat signals a new album on the way from the Northwest psych outfit. Headed by Dewey Mahood (Eternal Tapestry, Rose City Band, Gärden Söund), the sounds of the Wat have been his home for years, cropping up on labels like Blackest Rainbow, DNT, Sloow Tapes, and Thril Jockey. For his latest, the band skips to Sun Cru and heralds the way with the blistering new single, “Tentacles.” The cut rises out of the mists, a slow psych creep through the caverns until blistering guitars and the fanfare of horns turn the song into a sinewy battle charge. A surf-fried frenzy of roasted riffs, throbbing bass, and brass bombast, the new single cracks open the chaos to come on the band’s new record, The Vanishing World. The new album is out March 20th from Sun Cru.
