In a year when he’s already offered up a stunning double-album and the follow-up to the long awaited Stonegrass record, Canadian songwriter Matthew Dunn proves there’s no time for rest. Today brings his second album of 2025, a more compact, but no less potent collection of cowboy ballads and sweetly-stung Americana. The record doesn’t rankle, but rather tucks in to watch the sun as it paints the fields out the window. Closing cut “Foolish Fool” is a tender ode with a heavier heart than some. Augmented with a dose of buttered steel from Kevin Neal, the cut lets the record slip off with the chimney smoke over the hills. The new record, Here We Are, is out now from Cosmic Range.
