Haylie Davis – “Country Boy”

Another new single from Haylie Davis shakes free of her Lady Apple Tree moniker. Like “Golden Age,” new song “Country Boy” is draped in a studio sheen, a ‘70s-styled comfort that begs comparisons with her California contemporaries in Drugdealer, Pearl Charles, and Sylvie. Though, her latest also wrangles in a bit of country air, as the title might allude. Soaring vocals lead the listener down sun-dappled lanes, only to be met with a swell of slides as the song dips into its second half, warming the track with deep amber hues. It’s a deep canyon ballad that cements the anticipation for Davis’ album proper following her signing to Fire Records. The new single is out now, accompanied with a yearning new video.
