The Mellons – “From The Vine”

RSTB faves The Mellons return with a new single co-produced by Glenn Brigman of Triptides. The band retains their sunshine pop sway, dipped in layered harmonies, beautifully buoyant strums and a steady beat. Still loitering around the Brian Wilson / Curt Boetecher end of the pop spectrum, they also mix in a bit of The Hollies’ cheekiness this time around. The band finds a perfect foil in Brigman, who’s no stranger to the lilt of ‘60s touches himself, it’s another gem in a line of stop-gap singles for the band. The Mellons have been taking their time since laying down the beautiful bounce of 2022’s Introducing…, but each new single makes it clear that they’re building pop curios well worth the wait.
