Jantar – “Strange Delights of Artificial Grief”
by Andy
This weekend brought a surprise tape from RSTB favorites Jantar. The Brooklyn psych outfit have bubbled under the radar, fusing a nocturnal concoction of psychedelics that leans into languid end of the spectrum. The band’s sonics swirl the speakers, rivulets of guitar that lap at the listener before dissipating into the ether. The new tape features a few familiar names, including Wednesday Knudsen fitting some ethereal flute to “Strange Delights of Artificial Grief.” The song whispers between worlds, a portal between waking and sleep, seance and silence. The new record, Aqua Vergine, is out now on cassette and digital.
