Sunday Mourners – “When Dreams Come True”
by Andy
Another stinger out of Curation crops up this morning, this time pushing aside the sea breeze ease of their labelmates for something a bit more tensile and taut. Sunday Mourners tap into the Television / Richard Hell reverence that tracked its spillover from the ‘90s into the early Aughts. The band feels like a kindred spirit to Jonathan Fire*Eater, Railroad Jerk, and pre-ink Strokes. The guitars are brittle but barbed, slashing at the unwary listener who wanders too close. Torn phrases spar and spin around the cut glass of “When Dreams Come True,” hanging loosely on the vocals of singer Quinn Robinson. The band’s debut album, A-Rhythm Absolute, is out December 28th from Curation.
