Haylie Davis – “Golden Age”
A familiar site favorite returns today under a new name. Formerly known around these parts as Lady Apple Tree, Haylie Davis has slipped free of the pseudonym with an announcement of her debut album for Fire. While the name has changed, Davis’ ability to drape her songs in the soft-focus melancholy of the ‘70s remains. Much like contemporaries Sylvie, Kate Bollinger, and Winter McQuinn, Haylie culls from the Canyon, lush folk-tinged pop that’s comfortable in it’s own bittersweet sighs. She’s hinted at visions through the amber glass and shag of the decade before, but always tempered it a bit with a folk austerity. For “Golden Age,” Davis fully embraces the widescreen approach of classic production and it feels good on her. The new single is out now, with more news to come on an album for 2026.
