Uni Boys – “Long Time No See”

This one snuck out last week but I was unable to get a good listen until over the weekend. L.A. trio Uni Boys let loose a new double dose of goodness over at Curation Records. Pulling away from a bit of the cosmic careen of the label, the band injects a power pop sheen into the mix, evoking Shoes, The Quick, and Milk n’ Cookies at their best with a bit of the swagger of bands like Teenage Head and newer hallmarks Bare Wires. “Long Time No See” captures the particular magic of a sneered riff with cotton-soft harmonies that lend a vulnerability to the song. The band had a couple of necessary self-releases over the past year, but this marks their first for the West Coast collective at Curation, with hopefully more to come on the way. The single is backed with the more toothsome “Rock N’ Roll Dream” both available now.
