ML Wah – “Owl Rises”

If you’ve been following the steady stream out of Flower Room these days, anchored by the works of Matt Lajoie (Herbcraft, Starbirthed) and Ash Brooks (Ash & Herb, Tonal Cosmology) there’s no shortage of meditative fodder. Matt’s recent solo releases have centered around finding a center through guitar excursions, while Starbirthed floats on a synth ether. ML Wah has remained an open awning, letting Lajoie shift styles under the more experimental moniker. For his latest as ML Wah, Matt ditches the guitar for circular piano pieces offset with ambient loops, finding harmony with an instrument he’s less comfortable with. The first couple of glimpses into Mirrored Night shimmer like sun off of ice — a perfect pairing for the cold wave that’s hitting the Northeast today. The record will be available on Cassette and super limited lathe editions that will ship out in April.
