Matt LaJoie – Flight Path

Site favorite Mat LaJoie has cycled through the bulk of a series of recordings rooted in the four elements, already covering ground on Water, Fire (via sunlight), and Earth. As he prepares for the Air installment that will complete the cycle he offers up a companion piece, a short cycle of lightness that takes inspiration from Laraaji and S.D. Batish’s dilruba devotionals alike. The four pieces on Flight Path hint at what’s to come on the upcoming On Garudan Wing LP, due out later in the year. As their elemental inclinations might suggest, the pieces are dappled in light and floating on high cool breezes. LaJoie’s guitar sparkles, alternating between electric dazzle and the pastoral lope of 10-string acoustic. The collection is out now as a Bandcamp exclusive with the forthcoming new LP slated for later on in 2023. Your vernal morning begs for the dewy float of Flight Path.
