More goodness from the West Coast, a SF nugget of woolen indie pop courtesy of the new Flowertown LP on Paisley Shirt. The album’s title track, “Time Trials” jangles through the haze, an understated stunner coming through the short wave wires and onto our speakers. The band’s last album wrapped up a collection of EP tracks onto one surface, acting as an excellent introduction to the band. This time, the album proper cements them as one of San Francisco’s best kept secrets, though certainly not for long. While labels like lo-fi and dreampop are wound to get thrown around, the band, like so many of their contemporaries are simply perfecting the privacy of indie pop. This one is making good on the promises that were laid out decades before them — in bedrooms, makeshift studios, and on four tracks that served as comfort to the quiet ones. The new LP is out this Friday from Paisley Shirt.
