Smoke Bellow – “Fee Fee”
Can’t go wrong with some newness out of Trouble in Mind and the label’s latest lands among the ranks of the post-punk roster that’s been amassing over the last few years. If your shelf is already packed with Naked Roommate, Nightshift, Lithics, and Omni LPs, then the new album from Smoke Bellow ought to feel right at home. The first taste saunters in on a minimal wind — rubber legged bass, rhythms that wobble from speaker to speaker, and dry-ice vocals that draw a line from The Raincoats and Young Marble Giants to newcomers like Terry. A few sax stabs later and this one gets under the skin pretty deep. The band’s new album Open For Business is out in September from Trouble in Mind. Check out the surreal video for “Fee Fee” above.
