Peace Within – Peace Within EP

Been digging into this one over the last couple of days. The debut cassette from Canadian psych slingers Peace Within finds the band balancing an insistent choogle with chilly washes of flute and autumnal folk winds. Synths buzz with an incandescent glow pushing against the clang and clamor of the guitars. Underneath, the record beats a constant throb from the rhythm section, pushing the pieces with a full body buzz that thumps against the back of the skull. The band’s not afraid to let the mood lighten though. Some chooglers become too enthralled with the chug, but Peace Within emulates their name with a release that’s awash in calm, elevated thrum. The eponymous new cassette is out now from We Here & Now.
