The second single out of Mike Donovan (Sic Alps) new solo album finds the songwriter in a wistful mood. “Whistledown” is a swollen-heart ode, draped in delicate touches. With sweetly swung strums, sonorous strings, and forlorn piano, the track exemplifies Donovan’s post-Alps trajectory towards folk-blues. The accompanying video is as spare as the song, wandering the woods in monochrome hues. Mike’s new album, Mike Donovan Meets The Mighty Flashlight, a collaboration with Mike Fellows, finds its way out October 13th from Drag City.
