Another peek into a love letter to their influences from Mapache lands today. This Sam and Clay, along with Doug Horne take on fellow West Coast luminaries Allah-Las, covering their 2014 title-track “Worship The Sun.” The band drains a bit of the beach air out of the song, replacing the Las’ surf saunter with a more meditative bliss. This version leaves the waves behind for something of a mountain stillness, basting in the sun with less of a frolic and more of a monastic aura. The band’s upcoming LP of interpretations, 3, is out November 19th from Innovative Leisure.
