Cameron Knowler – “Felicity”

A lovely way to start the morning today — a new Cameron Knowler single in the headphones and news of an album on the way from Worried Songs. The guitarist has been a welcome presence in instrumental guitar, pushing away from the reliance on the Takoma school, folding in an undercurrent of Western influences, border town bleed from Spanish guitar ballads, and the minimalist air of Bruce Langhorne. “Felicity,” the first single from the upcoming album, takes a sweet saunter through the speakers. Knowler’s strings wind a slow and sonorous path over the faraway echo of Jay Bellerose’s restrained percussion. While Knowler may have become a name among guitar soli, on CRK he’s hardly alone, with guitar, percussion, steel and fiddle from Jordan Tice (Hawktail), Jay Bellerose, Harrison Whitford, Rayna Gellert, Dylan Day, Mark Goldenberg, Rich Hinman and Robert Bowlin. The new album, CRK, finds its way out April 4th from Worried Songs.
