Bitchin’ Bajas – “Amorpha”

After a bit of a respite for the festivities this weekend, the site is back and just in time for a fresh track from Bitchin’ Bajas. Coming back after a bit of a break themselves, with a tributary into Sun Ra homage, the new album finds Cooper Crane and co locked into a whirlwind of programmed bells and swirling synths. It’s as natural and elemental as the band has ever sounded — still lapping at the kosmiche canteen, but letting a New Age sunshower dawn over their works. The first taste of the album is a sidelong glimmer of hope that embraces lightness in a time of anxiety and angst. The Bajas have always been a living organism of tones and zones — an evolutionary tale made manifest in musical moments. This next step on their path is a most welcome embrace of the cosmic eternal.
