Wurld Series – “Rearing Wesley”
Not content to simply rest on their indie and alt laurels, NZ band Wurld Series returns with a third album that finds them pushing towards Canterbury strains of prog, psych and folk. New single “Rearing Wesley” lopes along on an insistent groove breezing through the kind of insistent pop that marked early Modern Nature while working to weave a Richard Thompson-inflected smoke curl of guitar into the mix. The band had just brushed the sound in the past, embellishing their thicker riffs on What’s Growing with a touch of soot and psych, but on the expansive new album, The Giant’s Lawn, the band put Dunedin to rest in favor of further shores. The new record finds its way to the world on November 13th from Meritorio and Melted Ice Cream.
