Ty Segall – “Void”
Well, I’m always a sucker for a new Ty outing and the new single finds Segall wading waist deep into prog’s welcoming waters. With a glycerine-lensed video by Denée and himself, the song ripples with a light pastoral quiver before diving into the fuzz-encrusted darkness on the tail end of its nearly seven-minute runtime. The single’s untethered, but I’ve played his game with Segall before, as a string of singles and a tour announcement very often lead up to a new long player in the end. The synths and slickness of Harmonizer turned into a romp through tender territory on Hello, Hi, but this time around there’s an uptick of psych-dripped dalliances and I’m here for it. The new single is out now from Drag City.
