The Mellons – “What A Time To Be Alive”
by Andy
A super charming new video lands today for The Mellons’ new single. Packed with puppets (which is always a plus), the childlike video pairs well with the band’s sunshine psych sound. Pulling as much from the sun-soaked strums of The Beach Boys, Yellow Balloon, and The Turtles as they do from the more cinematic strains of Boettcher-adjacent works of The Millennium and Sagittarius, the band nails the kind of sweeping, dreamy quality that works so well in this kind of hazed pop deluge. The single leaves the listener buzzed and slightly giddy, never a bad thing around here. The song appears on the band’s debut Introducing… The Mellons out September 16th on Earth Libraries.
