The Mellons – “Salad Made of Butterflies”
by Andy
If you missed out on the delightful debut from The Mellons last year, here’s another good reminder. The album is stacked with psych-pop touches, layered harmonies, melancholy melodies, and nods to Baroque classics from years gone by. The album is broken up by the mostly instrumental respite of “Salad Made of Butterflies,” a more rhythmically rooted cut that’s reminiscent of Traffik Island’s Sweat Kollecta record with a bit more perfume in the air. The band gives the cut a proper video that’s littered with a barrage of faded photo collage work from VHSVic, a nice fit to the song’s swirl. Introducing… The Mellons is out now on Earth Libraries.
