Sylvie – “Further Down The Road (Maston Remix)”

Two RSTB faves coming together quite nicely here. Sylvie have been a near constant here at the site, with their spot-on emulation of ‘70s sounds and breezy folk demeanor. Likewise, Frank Maston’s mastery of Library aesthetics and faded photograph production has been lovely to witness. As Sylvie prepare to head overseas for a UK and European tour, they’ve released a remix of “Further Down The Road” by Maston. The new take is a subtle shift, not terribly far removed from the original, but charming in its own right. Maston gives the song a bit more glint and gauze, letting it get lost in the soft-focus glare of the lights. The song moves away from its original airy space and into a sunset dip. I’m happy to see these two pair up in a bout of mutual appreciation. It would be nice to see that blossom into a fuller collaboration, but this is a welcome gem as a start to that friendship.
