Prairiewolf – “Revisionist Mystery”

Kings of the midnight ramble, Western purveyors of twilight slink, Prairiewolf are back with a follow-up to their incredible debut. The last record established the trio as keystone players in the new wave of ambient country and they hold tight to their hallowed ground on the upcoming Deep Time. The first single, “Revisionist Mystery” has been holding down a spot In the band’s live repertoire for some time, a cut that coalesced just after the release of the eponymous debut. Though it would ferment for quite some time in the studio before it came to it’s final form. The song stitches it’s silken slink to the Ace Tone FR-3, skittering atop the drum machine’s reclined shuffle while pedal steel and mellotron clamp down the humid atmospheres, a perfect bedrock for some guest clarinet from Matt Loewen (Rayonism). The new album, Deep Time, is out September 20th from Centripetal Force and Worried Songs.
