Naked Roommate – “Broken Whisper”

Another blast of post-punk pokes out of the new album from Naked Roommate today. The band grabs hold of the most propulsive elements of the genre, bleeding through the unraveled ends of disco and funk on their way to a disjointed dance made to get the body in motion and the mood elevated. The band’s past releases were shrouded in a bit of haze, but on Pass The Loofah, the band has taken the chamois to the speakers and shined their sound to a high gloss with an ear towards Lizzy Mercier Descloux, Maximum Joy, and ESG. “Broken Whisper” finds the band at their most upbeat, pairing brass blasts and a bucolic bounce with gang vocal volleys that catch the cool breeze. The new album, Pass The Loofah, is out October 25th from Trouble in Mind.
