Jeffrey Alexander + The Heavy Lidders – “Mt Airy Mind”

After a short stint as a Bandcamp-only LP release, the new album from Jeffrey Alexander + The Heavy Lidders grabs wider audiences this week with new cassette and digital versions from Worried Songs. Planet Lidders finds the band mind-shredding alongside Jeff Tobias, taking CSNY to expansive depths, and incorporating the vibraphone works that have cropped up in Gardner’s solo stints and with Elkhorn lately. The band has a new video for one of my favorites from the new album, and one that incorporates those vibes to the mix. “Mt Airy Mind” finds the band in a quieter place than usual with Jeffrey wrapping strums and slide around an icy run from those aforementioned vibes.
