Meg Baird – “Will You Follow Me Home?”

There have been so many good new announcements over the past couple of days, this one almost slipped by. Meg Baird returns with her first solo LP since 2015’s Don’t Weigh Down The Light. While she’s certainly kept busy in the interim, with a collab with Mary Lattimore and the excellent debut from Heron Oblivion, it’s nice to see her back solo. The first single from Furling finds Baird reveling in more gossamer textures than some of her past works. With a nodding beat beneath her on “Will You Follow Me Home?,” Baird’s voice soars above the haze, weaving through the song’s textures like a bird in flight. The hazed textures pair well with the summer swelter of the video, directed by Rachael Cassells. The new album is out January 27th from Drag City.
