Kikagaku Moyo – “Gomugomu”

Avatar

Well look at that, after already talking up the excellent out of Guruguru Brain in the Dhidalah review, Kikagaku Moyo go and release another glimpse into their upcoming Kumoyo Island today. The song is steeped in a playful folk patter. Atop a shuffling beat the band busk out a free flow of strums and liquid light guitars. It’s a fun track that nods to a bit of the lighter side of the ’60s that drives the band. They accompany the cut with an animated video that touches on rebirth, based on the backwards reading of the Japanese 4-character idiom “Kacho-Fu-Fu-Getsu/月風鳥花” (Moon, Wind, Bird, and Flower). A sun-streaked counterpoint to the recently released “Cardboard Pile,” the track hints at the expansive nature of the upcoming final album. Kumoyo Island is out May 6th.
