Hollow Hand – “One Last Summer”

One of the things I’ve missed most about the drought of shows in the last year is digging through the lineups on posters for openers, but as they’ve crept back its allowed me to continue to mine the poster gardens for new sounds. Case in point, opening up for RSTB faves Spencer Cullum, Sean Thompson, and Bobby Lee is Brighton’s Hollow Hand. That’s a packed lineup, so it only speaks to the unknown in the highest regard. As luck would have it, Hollow Hand as a new single with accompanying Super 8 vid just last week. The soft breeze of summer psychedelia belies the November release of the song, but seems like we all might need a nice boost this week. With a tangle of strums and a burnt fuzz veneer, “One Last Summer” captures the heartache hues of August as it fades into September. No word on an official album at this time, but if you’re streaming this one should tide you over until more details emerge. If you’re around the UK, look out for those shows with Spencer Cullum in March.
