DWLVS – S/T

It’s been a bit since I’ve had a Dire Wolves release on the speakers, but the band’s global spread likely plays a lot into that scenario. In the interim The Heavy Lidders have risen in the rust belt and Old Million Eye is quietly assembling on the West Coast. The band crops up for a one-off single at an old haunt, Czech Republic psych outpost Stoned To Death. The eponymous 7” is a double dose of what the band does best though, and I’ve missed their lysergic fray over the last couple of years. DWLVS jump into the fire quickly on the new single, the acrid fumes of “On A Clear Drop You Can See Forever,” rising over the the listener like hammerheads on the horizon. The flip finds the band in more sinewy forms, less scorched earth temperament and more of a slightly frantic choogle going on “Cyclone Warrior At The Doors Of Misperception.” The record keeps the heft of DWLVS potent and pungent. This one is limited to 200 and worth the wait from overseas. Keep this loud on the speakers and on endless repeat.
