Circuit des Yeux – “Vanishing”

A third single heralds the turbulent new record on the way from Circuit des Yeux and it might be the most affecting of the bunch. The song and video deal with the oncoming onslaught of climate change and with the use of Haley Fohr’s expansive octave range, the plight is given a proper sense of urgency and danger. With orchestral swells that pitch and roll the listener like a ship lost at sea, the song uses Fohr’s voice as a beacon through the grim darkness. What it’s leading the listener towards is to be seen, but it’s all but certain that with themes that center on ignored warnings, that only the lure of craggy rocks lay ahead of the lifeline, rather than salvation. -io is the sixth album under her Circuit des Yeux name and with its songs of grief and gravity, the album is building to be one of her best. The album arrives October 22nd from Matador.
