Channelers – “Shades of Rain”

A new album on the horizon from Channelers is always a good thing. The band, an alias of Oakland musician Sean Conrad revels in a verdant patch of songwriting that’s buoyed between meditative and cosmic. Early standout “Shades of Rain” soars on winds wet with flute, sax, and a gentle pluck of guitar. There’s a dawn light underpinning the track, a stillness that creeps in when most of the world is tucked away. The machinations of nature still find their way while we slumber and Conrad’s light touch captures that feeling. The new album, Time, Space, and Through is out July 22nd from Inner Islands.
