Ami Dang – “A Muted Crime”

Baltimore Sitar player and singer-songwriter Ami Dang returns with another deeply engrossing album for Leaving Records. The third single from the album, “A Muted Crime,” combines her sitar work with body shaking bass that stalks with a slow pound, hand percussion, and ambient textures that fill the spaces between instrumentation with gauze and glare. The song radiates a meditative calm, shimmering when her sitar hits the tape, but just as often holding the listener in warm stasis, like steam hung on the air. The new album, The Living World’s Demands, is out November 4th from the aforementioned Leaving.
