Adult Babies – “Good Provider”

A trio of Comet Gain adjacent EPs drop out of the blue today with the indie-pop supergroup Cinema Red and Blue making an appearance to let out a gaggle of covers from the likes of Bruce Woodley and Roky Erikson and Comet Gain getting scrappy on New Order and John Cale. The gem of the bunch here seems to be the Adult Babies trio of tunes which take on a harder edge than fans of Comet Gain might expect. The band ropes in Brent Rademaker (Beachwood Sparks, GospelbeacH) and Lookout! Records head Chris Appelgren. These all seem to have been flooded to Bandcamp without fanfare, but there’s some goodness to be had among the under-produced recordings that are wrapped up here. Adult Babies seems to be an outlet for the more psychedelic impulses of Feck and his assembled crew and its certainly one of the hardest offerings I’ve heard from him to date.
