The Reds, Pinks and Purples – “Worthy Of Love”
Too many good singles locking down this upcoming album from The Reds, Pinks and Purples. The latest continues to let the band’s sound balloon in beautiful ways, a bigger record than Glenn has ever attempted. “Worthy of Love” retains the band’s rain-streaked n sequestered notions, but this time the homespun jangles are amplified with a pop grandeur that rivals prime period Go-Betweens and the oceanic embrace of The Chills early ‘90s run. It’s great to see Donaldson let the shapes of the band’s early records expand into the kind of quietly crushing treasures that pulled the broken-hearted out of bed, reverberating from college airwaves like a beacon in the dark. The band’s new album, Acknowledge Kindness, is out April 24th from Fire Records.
