The Tubs – “Sniveller”
This is definitely one I’ve been anticipating for a while. After the demise of the beloved Joanna Gruesome, the members began to crop up in new outfits with revolving lineups. After the unmissable debut from Ex-Vöid landed this year it seemed that The Tubs should be next in the running. The band’s EPs have been havens of jangle pop but they branch out further on the lead single from Dead Meat. With a quicksilver flash of New Wave keys, thick ripples of post-punk bass, and a thundering crush of guitars this track finds the band fine tuning impulses that were only hinted at previously. Like their alters in Ex-Vöid, the album gets a gloss up that sounds great on them, hammering their sound into a hugeness that’s captivating. The new album is out January 27th from Trouble In Mind.
