The Reds, Pinks and Purples – “Dull Panic & Sunday Gloom”

Avatar

Blink and you’ll miss ‘em as Glenn’s Reds, Pinks and Purples keep a steady stream of singles coming on the Bandcamp before they get rounded up for releases (in most cases). There’s never a bummer in the bunch and this latest, despite the dour title is yet another bittersweet strummer from the band, letting the pale pink light from the window stream down on the week’s capper, giving the panic of renewed responsibility an anthem that hits home. The balance of depression and dread has long been summed up in quippy names, but Glenn eschews any winking here, digging into the emotions below the surface for a song that could easily wind-up on an expanded edition of his excellent new album Uncommon Weather.
