Catching up from last week, I’d missed this gem from the upcoming new album by The Natvral. The band is the new(er) outing from Kip Berman of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and like his debut under the name, the record carries with it a nice cross between power pop and ‘70s roots motifs. The album opener “Lucifer’s Glory” tumbles into view with a bit of a rumpled ‘70s barroom boil, feeling caught between E Street strums and The Heartbreakers’ Torpedo days. The song balances between bittersweet and battle torn, a late night jukebox stormer if there ever was one. The new album, Summer of No Light, is out September 1st from Dirty Bingo Records.
