A second stunner of a single from Aussies The Bures Band lands today. The band, which features RSTB fave Stephen Bailey (Mt. Mountain), embraces a sun-dappled vision of Cosmic Americana that expands upon and thickens sounds that Bailey brought forth last year on his solo album, G.G. Rider. “Drifting” is quite a bit more pared down than first single, “Birds Nest,” feeling a kinship with US bands like Mapache, while also recalling the sand ’n surf of countrymen Babe Rainbow. Like the latter, the song is doused in layered harmonies with a pastoral lacing of flute. The single precedes the band’s upcoming debut, Birds Nest, which arrives in September from a cropping of familiar labels — Cardinal Fuzz (EU/UK) Echodelick Records (N. America) and We Here And Now (Can).
