Sylvie – “Lady Full of Dreams” (Cathy Hamer Cover)

It’s always nice to hear from RSTB faves Sylvie. The West Coast band is back with a cover of Cathy Hamer’s “Lady Full of Dreams.” The breezy original appears on the new compilation, Cosmic American Music: Motel California, just released at the tail end of last year by Numero Group. Hamer issued two private press LPs in the ‘70s which, even as far as private press works go, are pretty hard to come by. She’s also, notably, the mother of Kate Bollinger, who has picked up her mantle of soft-hearted strums over the last few years. Sylvie give the song a more country take, fleshing out the original’s solitary sway with harmonies and a bit fuller sound. Both versions are a lovely way to start the week. The comp is out now from Numero and the new cover can be found on streaming and Bandcamp.
