Skyminds – “Eastern Window”

After making the rounds on Brooklyn’s Auasca Records, and the self-styled Internal Rhythm, Skyminds make a jump to Not Not Fun for their new album. With a few pre-album singles floating in the mix, the shape of the album starts to take shape. The band, feat members of Channelers and GoGoGo Airheart, ride the same seam between kosmiche, ambient, and German Progressive styles. “Eastern Window’ has a jazz-strewn pulse, with skittering drums and forest flute, brushing against all three at once. Elsewhere the band slide into calmer waters but its nice to hear them get a bit of bristle into their sound. The album, Terra Preta, is out August 25th.
